Sandrails and Dune Buggies have been around for a
long time. We've seen them on the sand for decades, we've marveled at their
designs, enjoyed the thrill and excitement only machines like these can offer.
Both the Sandrail and Dune Buggy represent the American idea of freedom in
design and function for a motorsport vehicle.
There is a fine line that seperates the Sandrail and Dune
Buggy and with today's extreme builders that line is beginning to blur even
further.
The Sandrail works fine for both on and off road, however it's off road
ability is limited due to the suspension used on many different models.
The Sandrail in some cases is also longer than your typical off road Dune
Buggy. Some builders will use a standard Sandrail frame and
install a long travel suspension system making it a Dune Buggy.

For those of you that remember the sixties you may be
thinking of this purple people eater as a dune buggy. It's true that a
long time ago this was what you saw when someone told you they had a Dune
Buggy back in the sixties. However the world has changed a great deal
since than and now what you see as a Dune Buggy is nothing like this little
purple people eater.
Buggy builders all over the country have taken full
advantage of all the new technology available in today's world, and they are
building some of the most insane machines you've ever seen.
Lets face it people, when you look at a machine like this fire breathing beast
from Sinister
Sand Sports it's like comparing apples and oranges. The Dune Buggies of
today are clearly the finest the world has ever seen.
One thing is certain, back in the sixties you didn't see
people from the middle east buying purple people eaters to run across their
sand dunes. However, today's builders are selling their extreme buggies like
candy around the world and the motorheads out there just can't get enough of this American
madness.
Although the price of machines like these are a little
high for most people there may be good news in the future for the rest of
us.
